Overview

SS-31 (elamipretide) is a synthetic 4-amino-acid peptide that selectively concentrates in mitochondrial inner membranes via electrostatic affinity for cardiolipin. It restores mitochondrial bioenergetics, scavenges reactive oxygen species at the source, and protects cristae architecture.
